Museum Barockscheune, Volkach

The town of Volkach opened the Museum Barockscheune in 2003

Here comes history, landscape and culture of the Main River loop region to life. An old barn dating back to 1714 with shell limestone brickwork and an extraordinary hipped mansard roof was refurbished, with the two upper storeys and the cellar becoming the home of a permanent exhibition featuring the rich cultural history of the town. The ground floor, however, is reserved for multi-purpose use: for temporary specialist exhibitions and other museum activities, for readings, concerts, and other cultural events.

Niklas Brobst, Volkach's chronicler, has been offering guided tours of the exhibits for children since 2006. Six interactive stations offer young visitors an opportunity to crack his secret code and open the safe at the end of the tour. That is how children effortlessly learn about Volkach and its history.
